Meet Our Coaches

ANNA BLANKSTEIN
HEAD COACH

Anna leads a team of 10 coaches for the Summit Ski Club. She provides program development for athletes and guidance to the parent run board of directors. Anna has been ski racing and coaching with Summit since 1998.  She ended her racing career as the Manitoba Cup Series Champion (2019). Anna is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Development Level Coach, a Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 1 Ski Instructor, and attended the 2023 Canada Winter Games as the Alpine Ski Assistant Coach. 

DAN BLANKSTEIN

Dan is a lifetime skier and longtime Summit Ski Club coach. He is a Past Chair of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA). Dan is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Performance Level Coach and an Entry Level Coach Facilitator, Mentor, and Evaluator. He is a long time Level 3 Ski Instructor and Level 1 Course Conductor (CSIA). Dan recently demonstrated his desire for further learning by achieving his Advanced Coaching Diploma- Canadian Sports Center, Manitoba. Dan usually coaches our more experienced athletes.

JON CUDDY

Jon has many years of experience coaching with the Summit Ski Club. He has attended most of the local ski coach and Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) development opportunities over the years, including 2 local speed and one ski cross camp. Jon is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Development Level Coach and a Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 2 Ski Instructor. Jon’s experiences include racing in the Manitoba Masters Program until recently.

SARA TELLES-LANGDON
PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Sara began ski racing at the age of 6 with the Summit Ski Club. As a recent grad with a BKin (U of W), Sara coordinates both on-snow training and off-snow fitness activities. Sara is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Entry Level Coach. As an athlete, Sara was the Manitoba Cup Series Champion (2017 & 2020), and has competed at Whistler Cup and CanAm Western Championships. More recently, she attended the 2023 Canada Winter Games as the Alpine Ski Wax Technician.



MACLEAN HATHERLY

As a recent grad with a BPHE and BEd (U of W), Maclean coaches Summit athletes of all levels. Maclean is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Development Level Coach. His experiences have included racing in the Manitoba Cup Series, instructing sports camps in the 7 Oaks School Division, and instructing tennis camps at Norwood CC. Maclean demonstrates his enthusiasm for learning and teaching others with Summit Ski Club. His exceptional skiing ability is crucial as a model for our athletes!

KENT MYSKA

Kent started ski racing on the river bank at Osborne and Togo from ages 9 to 17. Later, he competed for many years in Manitoba Masters and won Silver at National Masters Championships in Sun Peaks. He is proudly a 25+ year member of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) and has been actively instructing and coaching for each of those years. Currently, he is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Development Level Coach and a Level 2 Ski Instructor (CSIA). He enjoys coaching children, seeing them develop, and getting them involved in a sport the whole family can enjoy. Kent is creative in setting great learning courses for his athletes and he always has a smile on his face!

BRIAN HATHERLY

As the former Head Coach of Summit, from the club's inception until March 2023, Brian has more than 40 years of coaching experience. He is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Performance Level Coach and Entry Level Coach Facilitator, Mentor, and Evaluator. He is also a Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 3 Ski Instructor and Level 1 Course Conductor. Brian’s experience includes a career of teaching Physical Education, coaching youth and Masters programs, as well as providing coach updates and other professional development opportunities.

MORGAN WHITEWAY

Morgan joined our coaching staff a few years back as a “Cool Dad” and Tail Gunner, helping with the youngest athletes. As he became more competent, Morgan successfully attained his Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Entry Level Coach. Morgan attended all available local ski coach seminars to learn as much as possible, as he became passionate about coaching ski racers! As a dad and coach, Morgan has become an excellent ski tuner- his own child athletes will definitely benefit from this!

GLENN ALLEN

Glenn has been has been a Summit Ski Club coach since 1986! He is a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Development Level Coach, working on his Performance Level, and is an Entry Level Facilitator, Mentor, and Evaluator. Glenn is also a Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 3 Ski Instructor and Level 1 Course Conductor. Through his many years of ski coaching, Glenn has been involved in a variety of programs including Manitoba Masters and Special Olympics. Glenn is a Professional Boot Fitter who will perform wonders on your boots to suit your needs through Sport Chek (Shop by Appointment Program).

MATTHEW RENDER

As a former racer with Summit Ski Club (a few years back!), Matthew brings his experiences as an athlete and as a Canadian Ski Coach (CSC) Development Level Coach. As he is very passionate about coaching skiing, Matthew has taken a lead role in the U10 program. Matthew has attended  coach learning opportunities in Banff in recent years to enhance his abilities. He currently has his three children enthusiastically participating and competing!
